Finding Peace Within Yourself - Rachel Devine
Let’s face it, life has its ups and downs and can sometimes go sideways as well. Life is a journey, and each one of us has different highs and lows. No one can predict what tomorrow will bring, but we can stand firm in our inner foundation of peace. Having this solid inner foundation is key to having peace even during the storms of life.
Annie Dillard put it so succinctly when she said:
“No one escapes the wilderness on the way to the promised land.”
That pretty much says it all. No one will ever find peace in their adverse circumstances or world events. However, we can find peace within. Detaching from the adverse circumstances is important. How you view a certain situation determines how much power it has over you. Keeping a steady diet of peaceful techniques is key to building the foundation to withstand the storms of life and own your power.
7 techniques to build a peaceful foundation within:

Inner Peace Examples:
Practice mindfulness and present-moment awareness. Turbulent times often come from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Mindfulness teaches you to stay grounded in the present moment, observing your thoughts and feelings without judging them. You are safe if you stay focused on the moment. This can help you bypass the mental loops that cause stress.
Cultivate gratitude: Make a conscious effort to appreciate the good things in your life, no matter how small. Gratitude shifts your focus away from problems and allows you to recognize the positive aspects that already exist. Keep a gratitude journal or take time each day to reflect on what you're grateful for.
Practice acceptance: While you can't control everything that happens, you can control how you respond. Accepting circumstances you cannot change with equanimity can bring a sense of peace. Acceptance equals serenity. Additionally, setting strong boundaries with people that disturb your peace of mind is a big step in finding inner peace. You have a choice to detach with love.
Spend time in nature. Being in natural settings has a calming effect on the mind and body. Go for a walk in the park, sit by a lake, or simply observe the clouds passing by. Nature can provide a sense of interconnectedness and perspective and bring much peace into your world.
Engage in relaxation techniques: Practices like deep breathing, meditation, gentle yoga, or progressive muscle relaxation can calm your mind and release physical tension. Find techniques that resonate with you and make them a regular habit. And light a candle to bring some fragrance and light to the mix.
Nurture your spiritual side: Whether through religion, philosophy, or personal beliefs, connecting with a sense of meaning and purpose larger than yourself can bring comfort and grounding during challenging periods. Connecting to your Higher Power, or as I call Him, God, can bring solace during a crisis and peace during any season of life. Connecting to the Spirit within is important to discovering peace and inner support. Remember, God is peace.
Seek social support: confiding in loved ones, joining a support group, or speaking with a therapist or life coach can help you process difficult emotions and gain new perspectives. Be around people who celebrate you. Feeling understood and not alone in your struggles can be immensely therapeutic.
Practicing all or some of these peaceful examples will help you on your quest for serenity. Remember, finding inner peace is a journey, not a destination. Be patient and compassionate with yourself, and trust that even the most turbulent storms will eventually pass. As the old adage says, “this too shall pass,” and it always does.
Your Inner Spirit:
We all have an extraordinary spirit within that brings us much peace and guidance. Our inner spirit directs us on our journey through life in the form of our intuition. When we listen to this inner whisper, we are usually steered away from dangerous situations or brought to joyful ones. The way to listen to this spirit within is through meditation. Meditation will take you from a turbulent day to a peaceful one. Meditation is a way to connect with your inner spirit. Picture the ripples on a brook; the ripples are the turbulence, but if you go beyond the ripples, you will find a peaceful haven in the water where calm awaits you. Incorporating even 10 minutes a day of meditation will change your life into a more serene way of being. It will give your mind a peaceful retreat from the hurried pace of everyday thoughts.
In conclusion, remember that life has many hills and valleys we must all travel on. However, the key is getting to a point where, no matter what happens in your life, you have a firm foundation of peace within yourself that withstands any storm that comes your way.

How to Overcome the Loss of a Pet: Free Video on Grief - Rachel Devine
Losing a pet is one of the most devastating trauma’s one can go through. The pain can be unbearable. You might ask yourself, why is it so painful? Believe it or not, the answer lies in your childhood. Your pet, for the most part, has typically been the most unconditionally loving part of one’s life. Let’s face it, not too many people are capable of loving unconditionally. A loving dog or cat loves totally unconditionally and that soul to soul love is very rare. So where does our childhood come into play? When our inner child needs are not met from age birth to 7 years, we grow up yearning to have that void within fulfilled. Our pet is quite amazing when it comes to filling our void within with unconditional love and our inner child is thrilled. Of course all of this is done on a subconscious level. So it stands to reason when your loving pet dies, part of the inner child dies along with it and this leaves one in an extremely vulnerable state with an incredible amount of pain and sorrow. Inner healing is crucial to overcome any type of grief.

The pain can be devastating. Inner healing is crucial to overcoming any type of grief. It is also crucial to grieve the loss of the pet in order to heal.
You must process grief, when it is happening, for it to be eradicated from your life. If you don’t, it will come back to haunt you in the future without warning. This happened to me when my dog Luke died in 2018. I was devastated by the loss. I didn’t realize fully the dynamics of my inner child dying along with my dog Luke at the time. Consequently, I was hit with a devastating emotional trigger that came out of left field regarding the death of my grandmother at the age of 7. I was brought emotionally back to her funeral and the terror I felt. The trigger was overwhelming and filled me with fear. Luckily, I was able to recognize what was happening and get help. It’s crucial to have someone to talk it out with that totally understands the problem. My experience taught me so much about the inner child factor and grief.
It’s imperative to process grief when it happens, on any level, so it doesn’t hit you in the future like a runaway bullet. Processing grief is the single most loving thing you can do for yourself when a pet or a loved one dies. This applies to any kind of grief. You can also look at your inner child and recognize aspects that are in pain. When you heal your inner child, you heal your life as an adult and it lessens the odds of being hit with an emotional trigger from the past. Grieving the loss of anyone is a crucial part of inner healing.
My free online video, How to Overcome the Loss of a Pet, gives you a step by step guide in getting to the root of the pain from childhood and helping one process the grief of losing your pet and part of your inner child. The awareness you will receive from my video on pet grief will put you in the right direction of healing from the pain and moving on. The video is absolutely free, so take advantage of this opportunity, or pass it along to a friend who is grieving the loss of a pet.
I wish you much peace on your inner healing journey from grief and loss. If you need help with processing your grief, in any form, please contact me. I offer life coaching support.

What is an Emotional Trigger? And How to Deal with them - Rachel Devine
Have you ever been around someone who reacted to a minor situation in a way that was over the top? Have you ever been around a person whose anger is way out of proportion to the angry event? Or perhaps you were around an adult who has violent tendencies. These people are experiencing emotional triggers. Emotional triggers come out of left field and instill havoc in ones psyche. Inner healing is the key to getting rid of the triggers. I know, because I experienced my own share of emotional triggers and I can tell you first hand they can be overwhelming. I did a ton of research on emotional triggers that I share with you.
Let’s explore emotional triggers in detail and see how to deal with them.

What are emotional triggers?
Emotional triggers are sudden fear, anger, panic, or sadness, grief, feelings of being overwhelmed, out of control, abandoned, or helpless. They come out of left field as flashbacks, which could involve reliving a memory, emotions, physical sensations or physical symptoms such as a racing heart, rapid breathing, or shaking.
Triggers can stem from many disorders, from obsessive-compulsive disorder to substance abuse to PTSD, depression, and anxiety to name a few. Part of root the cause can be traced back to childhood trauma and experiences.
A person’s strong reaction to being triggered may come as a surprise to others because the response seems out of proportion to the stimulus. But this is because the triggered individual is mentally reliving the original trauma.
For example, an adult who experienced fear of abandonment as a child might feel triggered by an unanswered text. The uncertainty of why they didn’t receive a response may cause them to relive feelings of abandonment, that come unexpectedly.
What causes emotional triggers?:
Anniversaries of traumatic events (car accident, death in the family, divorce or other trauma)
Certain locations, buildings, or environments are associated with trauma
Specific sounds (sirens, screams, gunshots, etc.)
Particular smells (smoke, alcohol, perfume, etc.)
Seeing certain people or types of people
Relationship conflicts or dynamics reminiscent of past abuse
Media depictions of violence, war, abuse, etc.
Physical or medical situations that feel threatening
Being fired from a job
Relationship breakup
Sudden death of a loved one or pet
Any trauma, minor or major, from childhood
Intense arguments
What are emotional responses to triggers?:
Anxiety/panic attacks
Feelings of terror, dread, or impending disaster
Anger/rage that is out of control or violent
Sadness/depressive episodes
Shame/feeling worthless
Detachment/dissociation
Flashbacks/intrusive memories
Physical reactions (shaking, sweating, nausea, etc.)
Avoidance of triggers or numbing emotions
Hypervigilance or being on high alert
Difficulties with emotional regulation
Self-destructive behaviors
Relationship conflicts
The emotional responses can be highly intense and feel disconnected from the present circumstances. Managing triggers often requires recognizing when one is triggered, using grounding techniques, and allowing the wave of emotion to peak and eventually subside. When the actual trigger is happening, it’s hard to grab a tool to cope with it. Having a good therapist around can help tremendously. Especially a therapist who specializes in this type of trauma response.
How to cope with emotional triggers:
While emotional triggers can be disturbing, there are strategies that can help minimize their impact:
Identify your triggers: Reflect on the situations, cues, or thoughts that seem to spark excessive emotional responses. Understanding your personal triggers is the first step.
Breathe: When triggered, practice deep breathing exercises to calm your body's stress response. Slowing your breathing can short-circuit a panic episode. Inhale for 4 seconds. Hold 4. Exhale 4. Repeat. Or breathe into a paper bag. Concentrate on the breaths as a distraction.
Use grounding techniques: engage your senses by touching a textured object, smelling something pleasant, or listening to soothing music. This shifts your focus to the present moment.
Reframe your thoughts: Remind yourself that you are not actually in danger in this moment. The trigger has activated an inappropriate fear response based on past events and in the present moment cannot harm you.
Reach out for support: Discuss triggers with a therapist, a friend or life coach, so you can process the emotions when they arise in a safe environment. A therapist is crucial to have.
Get help: Consider professional treatment. For PTSD sufferers, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, or EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), can effectively treat triggers.
Techniques: Another great technique therapists use is brainspotting. Look for a therapist who specializes in this technique.
Talk it out: Life coach can guide you and help talk things out.
In closing, from my own experience, processing any emotional triggers is the way to eliminate them from coming back. The more you can work on each emotional trigger the better you will be. Left unchecked, these triggers can cause havoc in your life. With patience and professional guidance, emotional triggers can be defused before they spiral into more severe anxiety or traumatic responses. The key is developing healthy coping strategies to manage and ultimately desensitize these exaggerated fear reactions rooted in past hurt. And it’s imperative to heal the inner child, which is the root of most triggers. I can’t stress enough the importance of getting a good therapist or life coach to help cope with triggers.

A Self-Care Blueprint for the Introverted Woman - Contributor, Marjorie McMillian
This article is about self-care for the introvert and show ways to optimize your life.
In a world that often celebrates the extroverted, finding solace in introversion can feel like a solitary journey. Yet, for you, the introverted woman, embracing this aspect of your identity can be the first step toward crafting a self-care routine that speaks to the depths of your soul. Tailoring your self-care practices to meet your unique needs is not just beneficial—it's essential for your growth and well-being. In this article, courtesy of Devine Intervention-Inner Healing Center, we’ll go over several ways you can take care of your overall wellness as an introvert.
Carve Out Time for Solitude
For you, solitude is not loneliness but a sanctuary where you find strength and clarity. Dedicate time each day to be alone with your thoughts, whether that means wandering through nature's tranquility or diving into the pages of a book that speaks to your heart. These moments of solitude are your time to disconnect from the world's noise and connect deeply with yourself, fostering an environment where self-reflection leads to personal growth and rejuvenation.
Establish and Communicate Boundaries
Recognizing and communicating your need for solitude is a profound form of self-care. Assertively setting boundaries with those around you safeguards your energy and creates space for relationships that honor and respect your need for quiet. This practice strengthens your sense of self-respect and ensures that your social interactions enrich rather than deplete you. It’s a declaration of your worth and a step towards nurturing more meaningful connections.
Seek Support in Overcoming Challenges
Many introverts have a hard time asking for assistance. If you're navigating the complexities of addiction, remember, seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. Alcohol rehabilitation centers offer the support and resources needed to overcome dependence, marking a crucial step in your self-care journey. Embracing this support not only signifies a commitment to your physical health but also to your emotional and psychological recovery, setting the foundation for a life of fulfillment and health.
Nurture Your Body with Proper Nutrition and Hydration
Caring for your body through mindful nutrition and hydration is a foundational act of self-love. Embrace a diet that fuels your body and soul, and make hydration a priority to maintain your energy and mood. The physical act of nourishing your body attentively can have a transformative effect on your overall well-being, empowering you to face each day with renewed vitality and a positive outlook.
Integrate Mindfulness into Your Daily Routine
Incorporating mindfulness into your daily life opens the door to a deeper connection with yourself and the world. Practices like meditation, deep breathing, and yoga invite you to experience the present moment fully, fostering a sense of peace and reducing stress. By dedicating time to mindfulness, you cultivate a serene inner landscape, enhancing your emotional resilience and capacity for introspection.
Cultivate Self-Compassion
Extend to yourself the kindness and compassion you readily offer others. Recognize that imperfection is part of the shared human experience and allow yourself to celebrate the small victories on your journey. Practicing self-compassion lays the groundwork for personal growth and well-being, creating a nurturing internal dialogue that supports your journey toward self-acceptance and love.
Design Your Personal Sanctuary
Creating a personal sanctuary within your home offers a tangible retreat from the external world, a place where you can recharge and find peace. Fill this space with elements that soothe your senses, like soft textures, gentle music, and calming scents, crafting an environment that supports your well-being. This personal haven is a testament to your commitment to self-care, a physical space dedicated to your journey of self-discovery and relaxation.
Embracing your introverted nature and integrating these self-care strategies into your life invites a journey of self-discovery and personal fulfillment. Remember, self-care is not indulgence but a necessary practice for living a balanced and meaningful life. Let these strategies guide you toward a deeper understanding of yourself, enhancing your quality of life and empowering you to flourish in your unique way.

Don’t Quit your Daydream: 7 Steps to Manifest your Dreams - Rachel Devine
Life can take us down many different paths. We can go on a path of daily routine, day in and day out of doing the same thing. Or we can recognize a long-forgotten dream sitting on the back burner of our lives that can potentially change the course of our lives. Our hopes and dreams matter. However, sometimes we feel like everyone else around us is more important than ourselves. Self-doubt can also plague us with feeling stifled. I say, quit your daydream! It’s never too late to start fresh with any idea. You can manifest your dreams into reality.
Let’s get started and look into our daydreams.
Our dreams and goals matter. You deserve to live your life on purpose. I say, don’t quit your daydream! It’s never too late to start fresh with any idea. You have the power to turn your dreams into reality.
Let’s get started and look into how we can manifest our dreams.
1. Your daydream
Just recognizing a dream or goal you want to fulfill is the first step to attaining it. I had a manuscript on the back burner for years and finally brought it to the forefront and worked on it. I eventually got my second book self-published, called The Third Road. It was a great achievement and brought me from living on a path of daily routine to branching out to a fulfilling purpose in life. That purpose had a domino effect on other areas of my life where I was able to branch out to other areas with my writing.
2. Your purpose
We all have a reason for being born. It’s a matter of looking at what you love doing and what brings you joy. Your purpose is at the center of what you love doing in life. Your purpose has to have two elements: you have to love doing it, and it has to serve humanity in some capacity. I love writing and helping people, so that has been incorporated into my purpose of writing. Setting time aside to bring your purpose to life will bring you much joy. Just sit and think about what brings you joy, fulfillment and happiness that you love doing. Take your time with this and see what transpires.
Some ways to get started.
Do journaling to discover your purpose in life.
Read books, blogs, watch talks on finding your calling. See what resonates.
Research degree programs, workshops, coaches related to potential paths of purpose.
Volunteer in areas connected to your interests and observe how these experiences make you feel.
3. Positive visualization
Positive visualization involves intentionally developing a picture in your mind to practice the performance, feeling, or behavior you desire. The American Psychological Association Dictionary refers to this process as “mentally rehearsing” to enhance performance. Once you decide your purpose in life, visualize it daily. The power of positive thinking is not just some lofty words; it is a surefire way to manifest your dreams into reality. You can visualize what you want to manifest in your daily meditations as a good start. Positive visualization will keep you on track, as you move towards your purpose in life. Just picture in your mind what you want to manifest for a few minutes each day.
4. Manifesting your dreams
The most powerful part of manifesting your dreams is using feelings. Feelings penetrate the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is like the motherboard of a computer. It directs 95% of your decisions and actions in life. Therefore, it’s important to visualize the outcome you want in order for it to penetrate the subconscious mind. As you fall asleep at night, put one visualized picture in your mind of what you want to manifest. For instance, if you want to write a book, put an image of a book that you authored, as if you already wrote it and had it published. Then fall asleep with the feelings of what it feels like to have a published book. You would feel accomplished, fulfilled, happy, etc. The feelings will penetrate the subconscious mind for eight hours as you sleep. The sleep state is powerful because it is the unconscious state where you can penetrate the subconscious mind, where all dreams eventually manifest into reality. The key is to picture one thing as if it already happened and resonate with the feelings.
5. Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are positive phrases, or statements that are used to challenge negative thoughts. People can use positive affirmations to motivate them, encourage positive changes in their life, create a goal, or boost their self-esteem. Positive affirmations are a way to put positive thoughts in your subconscious mind, because they are repeated over and over again. This offsets some negative thoughts that get embedded in our minds. Living a life on purpose entails being positive and affirmations will help you get there.
6. Game Plan
Setting a game plan is imperative to achieving any goal in life. It’s a pathway to get you to your goal or purpose. Once you are able to establish a game plan, you can set some small goals in the direction of developing your purpose. Taking small steps to get to where you want to be in life is a good start. A ‘to do list’ will keep you on track with your game plan. Just list a daily plan that will move you in the direction of your purpose in life.
7. Turn self-doubt into self-confidence
Self-doubt is usually a culprit in stopping one from following their bliss in life. I was plagued with self-doubt many years ago when I started writing. It’s so important to shift away from self-doubt to self-confidence. You can do that by shifting your focus to doing good things for yourself. Show yourself that you are worth a massage, or an expensive dinner out, or flowers, a new outfit, or box seats at a baseball game. When you treat yourself with worthiness, that will carry over to build self-confidence. Take time for self-reflection in this area and put action behind the outcome.
When my self-doubt plagued me years ago, I wrote a poem as a way to help me overcome it. This is the first poem I ever wrote.
When you can feel the warmth of the sunshine but cannot see it.
Or feel the coolness of a gentle breeze but cannot grasp it.
When our dreams are just a fleeting thought, that no longer matters.
Remember to deeply reach within. To stretch your mind,
to awaken the real you, as you say goodnight to self-doubt
and the inner blindness.
Try your own poem, it’s fun and doesn’t have to be perfect.

It’s a little more challenging to shift your life to have more meaning to it. The good news is that you have the power to transform your life by infusing intention and meaning into each day. By taking control and making small changes, you can build a life of purpose, passion, and growth, no matter what your current situation looks like. Let’s look at how to take control of your life and be happy. You can transform your life with purpose.
Step 1: Identify Your Values and Passions
Start by thinking about the things that matter most to you. What are your deepest values? What gets you excited or inspires you? What do you love doing? Make a list of your passions and gifts as well, whether it’s creativity, connecting with people, athletics, or anything else meaningful to you. Getting clear on these areas will help guide you towards a purposeful life aligned with who you really are.
Step 2: Set life goals for the coming year
Once you know what you care about, it’s time to turn those passions into action with life goals. Think about areas like personal growth, relationships, health and fitness, career, or education. Then set 1-3 specific, measurable goals for the coming year related to those priority areas. Make sure they are challenging but achievable. Having defined goals fuels purpose and direction. Having a ‘to-do list’ outlining a path to achieve a goal is beneficial and will keep you on track.
Step 3: Break Goals Down into Daily Habits
Now that you have your annual goals set, it’s time to start building daily habits that will help you achieve them. So if your goal is to run your first 5K race, your habits may include a 30-minute run three times per week. Or if you decided you want to write a book, you can start by outlining the chapters. Break big goals down into bite-sized, daily pieces that incrementally move you forward. And I suggest you schedule these into your daily routine. Even doing one thing a week to advance to your goal in life will be a way to take control.
Step 4: Create an inspiring vision board
Bring your goals and passions to life by creating a visually inspiring vision board. Cut out magazine clippings of places you’ll travel to, fitness milestones you’ll conquer, dream jobs, or cars. Get some related stickers for your vision board or draw your own pictures. Add photos of loved ones who you’ll spend more time enjoying. Pin up anything that symbolizes the purposeful life you intend to create to keep you excited and motivated every day. Vision boards are incredibly positive and can help you achieve your goals. Keep your vision board is a place you can see it throughout your day.
Step 5: Invest Time in Things That Energize You
Once your new habits and rituals are in motion, pay attention to the activities and experiences that make you feel truly energized and enthusiastic about life. Maybe it’s taking a pottery class or perhaps you love writing. Reschedule your routine to invest more time in these energizing passions that fuel you with purpose and joy. Positive affirmations are another way to fuel your passion with positive energy.
Step 6: Your Purpose
Your purpose in life is whatever you love doing that will help humanity in some capacity. If you decide what that wonderful purpose is, don’t second-guess yourself or let self-doubt lead the way. If you have always wanted to write a book, start that project now. Take little steps to achieving this goal. If you want to coach Little League, make strides to achieve that goal. Or if you want to take up pottery, start searching for a class to do that. The more you strive to achieve your purpose in life, the happier your life will be.
Step 7: Recognize your accomplishments
Make sure you recognize your accomplishments. Every 3 months look back and recognize how far you have come. Give yourself credit for how far you have come with your goal and recognize your achievements, even if they are just baby steps in going in the direction of your purpose in life. You want to keep encouraging yourself to move forward. Like any journey, discovering your purpose will continue to unfold one day at a time. As you hit your initial goals, celebrate your progress and achievements.
In closing, remember that life is short, and each day is a precious gift. Living in the moment and using each day to achieve your purpose in life will bring you to the point of getting out of your comfort zone and into a whole new realm of living. It will bring you much happiness. At the end of your life you want to look back and see perhaps a legacy you have left for the world, or some positive accomplishments. The key is to take control of your life now.

The Power of Manifesting: What is the Force Behind it? - Rachel Devine
Manifesting our dreams refers to the idea that we can make our dreams and desires come true by intentionally focusing our thoughts, emotions, and actions toward making them a reality. The basic premise is that we attract into our lives whatever we focus on, so by focusing on our dreams and acting as if they are already real, we can draw them into existence.
Manifestation is the process of translating our thoughts into reality. It is based on the principle that our thoughts and shape our perception of the world around us. By changing our thoughts and developing more positive beliefs, we can change our perception, which in turn changes what we attract into our lives. We all have the ability to create our future.
The basic idea is that like attracts like, that is the law of attraction premise, so by embodying the vibration of already having your desire, you will send out the energy that brings it into your life. Additionally, our thoughts and feelings towards what we want to manifest get embedded in our subconscious mind, which drives our lives by 95%. However, we can put energy out into the universe and penetrate our subconscious, and that in turn should bring you what you want. However, the big question is what is the power behind manifestation? What power brings our dreams into reality? What is the force that manifests our dreams?

However, we can put energy out into the universe and penetrate our subconscious, and that in turn should bring you what you want. However, the big question is what is the power behind manifesting? What power brings our dreams into reality? What is the force that manifests our dreams into reality?
Below is an excerpt from my book, Discover the Power of the Secret Within: Healing Our Inner Child to Manifest Our Dreams. This will explain the power behind manifestation.
The Power of Manifesting
At this point, you might ask yourself: How does the subconscious mind bring feelings into form? I believe, from my research and my own personal experience, that the answer lies in the universal power that I call God, which is the almighty power that manifests our goals and dreams into reality.
According to many spiritual and philosophical teachings, the subconscious mind is part of a greater universal consciousness, referred to as God, Source, or the Universe. I proudly call this power God, which is the power behind manifestation in all its glory. This higher consciousness, or God, is considered the fabric of reality, and our subconscious mind is believed to be a conduit connecting us to the power of God. In more simple terms, what we feed the subconscious mind with feelings gets imbedded in the subconscious mind, and God brings it to form. I truly believe this is the powerful secret behind creation in all its magnificent glory and form.
In his book, Power vs. Force, Dr. David Hawkins concluded that the most powerful thing anyone can do is pray with loving emotions. That simple statement was so powerful after he wrote a complicated book on kinesiology. The power of prayer is powerful beyond anyone’s imagination and can only be brought to form by our magnificent God. I believe when we put feelings into our subconscious mind, it is a form of prayer.
The source of all power comes from our higher power, whom I proudly call God, and who is the source of all power in the world. God is the light that shines in our world, which eliminates darkness and brings goodness to form. God’s power is what brings miracles to light, goodness to the world, and hope to mankind.
This biblical passage is a powerful statement of truth that resonates with the power of God in manifesting what we want:
Mark 11-22:24 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, “Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Jesus tells us, “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Jesus was telling us that the power of prayer will come to fruition, provided that whatever you ask for in prayer, you believe that you have already received it. Think about how powerful our thoughts and prayers are. We are only scratching the surface of the power behind our thoughts in this day and age. And we are only beginning to recognize the enormous power of prayer.
Manifesting our thoughts
Have you ever thought about a friend or relative, and all of a sudden, you see them in a supermarket or other public place? Or perhaps you are thinking about someone you haven’t talked to in years, and that person calls you. Or you have a thought about a certain gift you would like to buy, and a relative gives you the same gift. Or have you ever had a feeling that you were going to get the job you applied for, and you actually got the job? Or do you feel, at times, that something great is going to happen, and all of a sudden it does? What happened here is that you put these powerful feelings in your subconscious mind, and they came to fruition through the power of God.
End of the excerpt
In conclusion, when we put energy into manifesting, the power that brings our manifestation into reality is the power of God. God is the creator; we are, in a sense, co-creators of our lives. Awareness is the key to making our dreams a reality. Remember, everything that was created in life started with a thought. And our thoughts are very powerful if directed in a way that connects to the power of God that dwells within all of us. The big question is, what are your thoughts on a regular basis? Are they positive or negative thoughts?

A Valentine’s Day Dream: How to Attract your Soulmate - Rachel Devine
We all, at one time or another, have dreams of meeting our soulmate. The person who will make all our dreams come true, sweep us off our feet, take us to a faraway land, and live happily ever after. This is reminiscent of the 1960’s movie Cinderella. What a classic movie that was. It gave every little girl the hope of one day meeting her prince charming and living happily ever after. However, the reality is that many of us make poor choices in marriage partners, and our dreams get shattered. Some may ask themselves why they are so bad at choosing a partner in life. Of course the answer lies within. Our Valentine's Day dream can only happen if we are at the same place we want our partner to be. In other words, we attract what we are. If we are in a broken, lonely, or depressed state, chances are we will meet someone who is broken, lonely, and depressed. This is the law of attraction, which says that ‘like attracts like.’ It’s like yelling out your emotions in an echo chamber; what you yell out will come back. So, the key to meeting your Valentine’s dream is to become what you want to meet. Let’s look at ways to attract your soulmate.

This is the law of attraction, which says that ‘like attracts like.’ It’s like yelling out your emotions in an echo chamber; what you yell out will come back. So, the key to meeting your Valentine’s dream is to become what you want to meet. Let’s look at ways to attract your soulmate.
First things first
The first step is to do a complete analysis of who you are and what you want. You can start by making a list of all the attributes you want in a soulmate. List everything, from their appearance to their moral values to their personality to all the qualities you are looking for. Then, take the list and check off how many of these qualities you have. Again, like attracts like. If you want to meet a kind, generous, and loving soulmate, you have to resonate and act with kindness, generosity, and love towards everyone you encounter, not just family and friends, but the customer service person who got you angry and the clerk at the supermarket. This is one of the process of the art of finding true love.
Visualization
Visualization is the most powerful way to manifest anything in your life. The most powerful time to manifest is just as you are falling asleep at night, because you are going into sleep mode, which is an unconscious state, and this is the time when you can reprogram the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind runs your life 95% of the time, so it makes sense to feed it what you want to accomplish in life.
Start by putting one picture of your soulmate in your head, in a situation that already depicts you in a relationship. You may want to picture your soulmate sitting at dinner with you or perhaps giving you a romantic kiss. Use only one picture and not a video of the whole evening. Then, fall asleep with the incredible feelings of being in love—feeling secure, happy, content, and filled with joy. The feelings are what penetrate the subconscious mind. Do this for at least 30 nights. You will feel more loving the next morning and resonate with those feelings, and that will help attract your soulmate.
Gratitude
Living in gratitude is a well-kept secret in life. It helps us attain more of what we are grateful for. The more you are grateful, the more positive energy you are putting out into the world, the more positive energy will come back to you. Again, this is the law of attraction. I suggest writing or mentally listing at least 10 things you are grateful for every morning. It’s a great way to start your day on the right foot.
Affirmations for Finding Love
Positive affirmations for finding love is another way to penetrate the subconscious mind from a negative to a positive.
Positive affirmations are positively loaded phrases or statements that are used to replace unhelpful or negative thoughts. People can use positive affirmations to motivate them, encourage positive changes in their lives, or boost their self-esteem, but they also reprogram the subconscious mind. They are especially helpful if you have a negative thought come out of left field, What you want to do is immediately overpower the negative thought with a positive affirmation.
For example, if you keep saying, “I am too old to meet my soulmate,” You want to change that around to, “I will meet my soulmate, and age is not a factor.” Or, “I never meet a healthy partner,” can be changed around to “I met my soulmate who is perfect for me.”
In closing, your soulmate is just a thought away and resides within you. Sometimes we search outside ourselves when, all along, what we are searching for is right at our fingertips. Sure, we can be our own prince charming or Cinderella, but it is a blessing to meet a partner to spend the rest of our lives with in our happily ever after dream. Dreams do manifest into reality when you have the right tools. It’s simply a matter of resonating with exactly what you want to attract in life and then falling asleep with that dream.

Take the Inner Child Quiz - Rachel Devine
Taking an inner child quiz can be the first step towards identifying and healing emotional wounds from your past. Studies show that a surprising number of adults experience the lingering effects of childhood trauma and stress. Unresolved issues from our early years often manifest in adulthood through struggles like addiction, anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. However, most people do not correlate inner child wounds with present day issues like depression and addictions. Furthermore, most people don’t even believe in the inner child factor. This is unfortunate because so much clarity and healing can be revealed with some foreknowledge. Let’s look at this in a comprehensive manner before embarking on an inner child quiz.

Finding the source of dysfunction
Addictions, anger issues, chronic fears, anger issues, and other adult dysfunctions frequently arise from childhood emotional wounds around topics like self-worth, security, and emotional needs not being met. Tracing back to the origins provides clarity and focus for unraveling these patterns. It sheds light on the actual patterns from childhood, helping one understand the root cause of their adult issues.
Statistics on Inner Child Wounds
Studies show 60% of adults of adults report experiencing abuse or other difficult family circumstances during
childhood. 26% of children will witness or experience a traumatic event before they turn four. About one-quarter of adults experience three or more adverse childhood experiences that can lead to emotional trauma.
A 2019 Harris poll found that 64% of American adults have inner child wounds that affect their happiness. The most common wound stemmed from emotional neglect, reported by 19% of adults.
These are just a few fascinating statistics on inner child wounds and their impact on adulthood can be more devastating than the original infraction!
Why Our Inner Child Impacts Our Adult Selves
Unmet childhood needs like connection, safety, validation, trust, and love often are the culprit behind our inner child wounds and resurface through some of the following issues:
● Addictive behaviors like alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling, and unhealthy attachments that fill a void or numb painful feelings from childhood on a subconscious level.
● Anxiety and depression result from core feelings of not being good enough, blaming oneself, and struggling with vulnerability.
● Anger issues are tied to growing up feeling unimportant, criticized, threatened, bullied, or powerless.
● Relationship problems due to difficulties with trust, communication, empathy, and respect—all learned in childhood.
These are just some dysfunctions that branch out of our early childhood. Identifying and nurturing your inner child’s unresolved wounds through self-discovery, counseling, therapy or support groups can help you form healthier, happier relationships and break detrimental, repeated cycles traced back to the past. The key to healing the inner child wounds is to recognize the patterns from childhood. The only way to recognize these patterns is to do the inner child work. The benefits of a potential healthy life without addiction or depression is far worth the work invested in your inner child healing. However, it all starts with awareness.
Benefits of Taking an Inner Child Quiz
Awareness happens with a little effort. If you take an inner child quiz you will have increased self-awareness. Understanding your inner child can help you recognize recurring destructive patterns that originated in childhood. An inner child quiz strips away rationalizations and makes you tune into core emotional triggers. It can also help you by pointing out your emotional wounds. Quizzes help uncover specific childhood events or dynamics that shaped your coping mechanisms and beliefs about yourself and the world. Identifying these root causes paves the way for healing. Living in an oblivious state and not understanding why certain core issues are coming from is unfortunate.
In closing, the key to happiness in life is to be aware of the origin of our present day issues. In understanding the patterns from childhood, one is empowered to heal from inner child wounds. The first step to any healing is becoming aware of the problem that needs to be healed. An inner child quiz is the first step to healing.

Healing Through Shadow Work: Addressing Inner Childhood Trauma - Rachel Devine
Many people carry pain and wounds from childhood trauma that manifest in unhealthy ways. These adult issues come out of left field like anger issues, resentments, shame and fears. Shadow work offers a path to heal these old hurts by embracing the shadow self. There are several ways it helps people process suppressed trauma and restore wholeness. Let’s explore inner child shadow work and how it releases inner child trauma.
What is shadow work?
The "shadow self" refers to aspects of ourselves that we deny or suppress—emotions, needs, desires, and beliefs that feel unacceptable. Shadow work is the practice of bringing conscious awareness to these suppressed parts so they no longer control one's life unconsciously. Trauma gets stored in the subconscious and it’s important to release that trauma in order for its hold on you to vanish.
Shadow work typically includes exercises such as journaling, meditation, and creative expression like art to explore one's repressed thoughts and emotions. By facing the shadow and bringing it out to the light, one can release these neglected parts of themselves and regain power, creativity, and wholeness.
Processing Trauma Through Shadow Work
When children experience trauma—abuse, neglect, loss, or overly critical environments—they adopt coping strategies to survive. This often requires suppressing vulnerability, needs, or feelings to avoid further hurt. These feelings could include anger and fear that get pushed down into the child’s mind without processing the feelings.
Shadow work helps shine light upon these long-buried hurts harbored by one's inner child self so they can be grieved, expressed, and healed consciously. This reduces their control over one's life and helps release them from the subconscious mind. Shadow work can help with inner child healing.
Common inner child shadow techniques
Inner child dialogues: Expressing suppressed emotions and needs and reparenting one's inner child with compassion.
Identifying negative core beliefs and rewriting empowering mantras.
Free writing and art therapy to uncover buried memories and feelings.
Exploring emotional triggers and their roots in childhood experiences.
Active imagination: having inner child self-guided visualization.
By gently bringing traumatic memories, emotions, and beliefs into present awareness, they lose their grip over someone. Old survival coping strategies of disassociation or repression give way to embracing grief, vulnerability, and authenticity.
Is shadow work effective for healing trauma?
Research into shadow work remains limited, but psychologists believe exploring the shadow can lead to transformative personal growth and trauma recovery. Case studies show individuals report renewed senses of self-love, personal empowerment, and emotional resilience. Please note, it is imperative to find a therapist that specializes in inner child healing for you to deal with this type of shadow work.
Cindy's Story: Releasing Inner Childhood Pain
Cindy suffered low self-esteem, defensiveness, and fear of intimacy after being severely criticized in childhood. Through her therapist, she wrote letters expressing the feelings and needs buried inside her inner child self that she had long repressed.
She visualized dialogues where she could now meet these needs for love and safety as an adult with her own self-love. Releasing years of shame and grief led Cindy to embody greater compassion towards herself and others. Her self-sabotaging behaviors diminished, and her relationships dramatically improved as she integrated her once-wounded inner child's pain through shadow work.
Conclusion
Shadow work allows people to address the root causes of emotional wounds within the inner child. By compassionately releasing that which lies in darkness, profound healing and empowerment can occur. Further research is still needed, but the evidence and case studies suggest this can transform traumatic childhood pain into greater authenticity and wholeness. Of course, it’s imperative to enlist a good therapist who specializes in inner child shadow work, in order to get the full benefits of healing inner child wounds.

Inner Child Therapy Techniques for Healing Rachel Devine
Inner child therapy is a form of psychotherapy that aims to heal the wounds and trauma experienced in childhood. It is based on the belief that everyone has an "inner child" within them that stores all the emotions, fears, beliefs, and memories from childhood. Addressing and healing the inner child can lead to profound changes in one's emotional wellbeing and ability to have healthy relationships. Research has shown that inner child pain is lodged in the body in a physical and emotional way. It makes sense, at a certain point, to address the pain and release it from the body.
Let’s explore different therapies for inner child wounds.

Let’s explore different therapies for inner child wounds.
Inner child therapy techniques
Inner child therapy uses a range of techniques to access memories, feelings, and beliefs stored in the inner child. These include guided visualization, journaling, drawing, role-playing, and dialogues between one's adult self and inner child self.
The therapist helps the client tune into repressed or suppressed emotions from childhood and express them in a safe, contained way. This allows the client to address core childhood wounds such as neglect, abuse, loss, criticism, and worthlessness that may still be negatively impacting them today. Expressing the feelings and needs of the inner child that were not met in childhood is profoundly cathartic. Many addictions stem from the inner child void within, that gets addictively filled with either food, alcohol, drugs, working long hours, etc. Inner child therapy is imperative to get to the root of the problem and bring it out into the open where it can lose its hold on you.
The therapist then helps the client nurture and care for the inner child through love, validation, understanding, and reassurance. This helps re-parent and heal the inner child of old shame, fears, or distorted beliefs. Clients discover how to meet their inner child's unmet needs from within themselves. They learn to cultivate self-love, self-acceptance, and healthy boundaries.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is an experienced technique that brings past emotions and trauma from the subconscious mind to the surface and then it releases the trauma from the body. This is a very effective technique for inner child healing. Additionally, it takes very little time to clear out destructive childhood thoughts that get embedded in the subconscious mind. You can learn more about brainspotting on this link.
Effectiveness of Inner Child Therapy
Research shows that inner child therapy can lead to significant reductions in anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, and insecure attachment. Clients report increased self-esteem, self-compassion, emotional resilience, and the ability to have intimate relationships after inner child healing.
Inner child therapy allows people to rewrite limiting beliefs, detach from the pain of the past, and develop a strong, self-centered sense of self. Transformational personal growth can occur as people peel away layers of protective armor built around the wounded inner child. It is possible to transform your life.
Finding an Inner Child Therapist
It is important to find an inner child therapist who utilizes a holistic, gentle approach. Look for those trained in attachment theory, brainspotting, gestalt therapy, or psychedelic integration. Avoid therapies that force clients to relive trauma in an abrupt manner without adequate support.
Group therapy with other inner child healing clients can provide additional support. However, one-on-one therapy forms the core foundation for safely uncovering deep wounds before group sharing. Research different options and read client testimonials to find the right fit.
The inner child lives within all of us, waiting to be healed. Inner child therapy facilitates this profound healing, allowing people to live with much greater freedom, joy, and authenticity. It takes courage to face your inner wounds, but it can lead to incredible self-awareness and personal transformation.

How to Overcome Abandonment Issues from Childhood. - Rachel Devine
Fears arise in adulthood from our inner child experiences. These fears can stop one from moving forward in many areas of life, but especially in relationships. Abandonment fears, such as an excessive need for closeness and panic about rejection, often originate from childhood abandonment issues. Early experiences profoundly shape our attachment styles and ability to trust in relationships. When you start a relationship with someone and they suddenly stop calling or texting you, intense fear may set in. That fear is what comes from the inner child being triggered by some childhood incident of abandonment from the past and has traveled into your adulthood. Some fears are from emotional or physical childhood abandonment. Let’s look into this a little deeper.

Some fears are from emotional or physical childhood abandonment. Let’s look into this a little deeper.
How Childhood Abandonment Fears Develop
Many factors can contribute to an insecure-anxious attachment pattern, but here are a few examples:
Physical abandonment by a parent through death, divorce, or neglect.
Emotional unavailability from a depressed, addicted, or distracted caregiver.
Harsh, conditional love that makes a child feel worthless and unlovable.
Unpredictable care that keeps a child perpetually anxious about being alone.
Being put in a group home and taken away from your family.
Living with a parent with an addiction like alcohol or drugs.
Having to become the caretaker at an early age of one or both of your parents.
Having to caretake siblings because of parental abandonment.
These are just a few ways a person develops fears of abandonment in childhood that cause blocks in adult relationships. These blocks can cause havoc. When reliable warmth and protection are missing during a child's vulnerable first years, intense abandonment fears can develop in the subconscious mind.
Signs of Abandonment Issues
Even in adulthood, old wounds may show up as:
Extreme distress or rage when a partner is unavailable.
Clinginess and fear of being alone.
Testing for loyalty and a constant need for reassurance.
Low self-worth and the belief that others will inevitably leave.
Jumping from one relationship to the next for fear of being alone.
Getting into bad relationships just to be in a relationship.
Fears sometimes morph into intense anger if one feels abandoned in a relationship.
Intense anger towards a partner that wants to leave a relationship.
How to Overcome childhood abandonment issues
Acknowledge the roots of these fears without judgement. Be compassionate toward the hurt inner child who adapted to uncertainty in whatever manner they could. With awareness and commitment, new neural pathways form when you can turn the fears around. A good start is having the awareness of the problem. Also, therapy is highly recommended because the therapist is trained to help one deal with these fears of abandonment. There is no easy fix; it takes time to heal inner child wounds.
These are some ways to ease the feeling of abandonment:
Offer inner dialogue affirming safety, support, and love. Envision yourself in a safe space.
Practice self-soothing through breathing, nature, and creativity. A walk in nature can do wonders.
Voice unmet childhood needs, grieve losses, and supply nourishment.
Build a support network of friends independent of romantic partners.
Cultivate self-esteem through accomplishments and social connections.
In relationships, voice fears in calm communication and set healthy boundaries.
These are a few ways to feel better. Though formidable, abandonment fears can absolutely be overwhelming, having a game plan when the strike can be a comfort. Confront core wounds without blame. Commit daily to proving to your precious inner child that they are loved, worthy, and will not be left alone again.
Inner child affirmations
Affirmations are a very good way to undo some of the inner child wounds. Saying these out loud, as often as you can, will help reprogram the subconscious mind, where all of our childhood wounds lay.
Here are some inner child affirmations:
I am in the presence of God and never alone.
I am nurturing my inner child with love.
I am safe and secure in my environment.
I am always in a loving space with the spirit within.
I am loved by family and friends.
I am loved by myself.
I am in a loving relationship with someone who will not abandon me.
These are a few affirmations that you can say out loud often, or you can make up your own unique affirmations.
In closing, I want to reiterate that awareness is the key to healing inner child wounds. Therapy is also imperative to help you heal. Reaching out to a therapist is not a weakness, but a way to strengthen yourself. It’s important to have someone that really understands. A life coach well versed in inner child can also be a blessing. Wishing you much healing.

Healing Your Inner Child with Affirmations: Change your Destiny - Rachel Devine
What are inner child affirmations?
Inner child affirmations are positive statements you direct toward your wounded inner child to transform old, limiting beliefs formed in childhood. You want to offset any negative thoughts from the past to positive ones. Our thoughts are engrained in our subconscious mind, that drives our life 95% of the time. Therefore, we want our subconscious to have positive thoughts. Joel Osteen says, “If you want to see what your future will be like, look at the words you are speaking today.” Our words are powerful and direct our lives and create our destiny. Let’s look at how we can use affirmations to change our destiny in life.

Examples of inner child affirmations
I am worthy of love and belonging.
I deeply accept and value who I am.
I am safe and protected.
I am loved by everyone I meet.
I am empowered by my own words.
As children, we absorbed negative messages about ourselves and the world around us. Left unaddressed, these can sabotage our happiness as adults. If affirmations are repeated daily for months, they can not only change the subconscious mind, they will help create your future. The key is to be consistent.
How do affirmations work?
Affirmations are short positive words. Repeated with sincerity and mindfulness, affirmations override years of negative conditioning, replacing messages in our head from a negative to a positive.
For example, you can flip the negative thoughts that invade your mind to positive thoughts:
“I am stupid and worthless.” change to "I am brilliant and worthy.”
“I am ugly.” change to “I am beautiful, inside and out."
“I don’t deserve good things.” change to “I am deserving of all good things.”
“I never succeed with my goals.” change to “I always succeed with my goals.”
“Nobody understands me.” change to “I am understood and loved.”
Inner child healing affirmations
Here are some examples of empathetic, nurturing affirmations for your inner child:
I embrace, understand, and accept all parts of myself.
I release the burdens from my past. I am free and at peace.
I lovingly attend to my feelings and needs each day.
My life overflows with joyful blessings as I both give and receive.
I am filled with so much love that my cup overflows.
The Power of Self-Love
Commit to speaking affirmations aloud to yourself every morning and throughout your day. Make recordings to listen to as you walk or sleep. Before you fall asleep each night, say some positive affirmations. This is the most powerful time that you can penetrate the subconscious mind, as you fall asleep.
Over time, these words restructure neural networks, opening you to more positive perceptions, emotions, and possibilities. The key is to be consistent in continuing to direct loving words and thoughts to yourself. The more you love yourself, the more you heal from inner child wounds. Most importantly, affirm your precious inner child daily. Self-acceptance and self-compassion transform old feelings of unworthiness into an empowered, embodied spirit overflowing with love for yourself. It can literally transform your life.
In closing, remember, the words you speak and the thoughts you have are shaping your future. Our future will go in the direction that we steer it in. Destiny doesn’t just happen, destiny is in your hands and creating the future you want starts with positive, loving affirmations.

Not only did I connect with my inner child, but I was able to connect in a way that brought my inner child a lot of joy. 7 Ways to Heal Your Inner Child Wounds
Our inner child represents the part of us that developed in infancy, childhood, and adolescence. These were vulnerable times that we experienced life as a child. Lots of different feelings developed and many of us developed inner child wounds. Inner child work means going back to understand, validate, and heal your childhood wounds. As psychologist Carl Jung put it this way, “The inner child carries the burden of being our past and future."
Our inner child represents the emotional part of us that developed in infancy, childhood, and adolescence. These were vulnerable times when we experienced life as a child. Lots of different feelings developed from experiences and possible traumas. Many of us developed inner child wounds. Inner child work means going back to understand, validate, and heal your childhood wounds. As psychologist Carl Jung put it this way, “The inner child carries the burden of being our past and future." Those are very critical words to describe exactly what the inner child carries around for us.
Let’s look into the inner child wounds from the past and see where we can heal the inner child.
Validate your past
It’s so important to not only connect with what happened to you as a child, but to validate your feelings. If you experienced trauma or grief, it’s important to try recognize and to feel those feelings. Any repressed inner child feelings will only erupt during anxiety, fearful, angry or stressful times and cause havoc in adulthood. It would be like opening a Pandora’s box of horrors. Getting in touch with those feelings will be the best thing you can do to combat adult disruptions. Once you are in touch with those feelings, you can release them. One way to release them is to speak about it out loud, even if just to yourself.
Identify any neglect or trauma
It’s important to recognize any neglect you may have experienced as a child or trauma. Bringing out our dark secrets from the past into the light of day helps it lose it’s power over us. Just speaking it out loud is a great start. Try to acknowledge the neglect to a friend or therapist.
Look for patterns
Our lives are a series of patterns from childhood emotions that seep into adulthood. Our anger issues that get out of control, are usually from past childhood anger that come out of left field during a heated argument. Recognizing any pattern from childhood is a great start to healing. An example of a relationship pattern from childhood would be having anger issues over your father not coming to your little league games. Now, as an adult, you take that anger out on your wife if she can’t be there for you in a certain situation. The anger would be intense and out of proportion to a minor situation with your wife. This is just one example of a pattern of anger from childhood.
Feel your feelings
Suppressed emotions manifest in other unhealthy ways. Make space to feel sadness, anger, and fear fully. It is imperative to feel your feelings.
Write a letter to your inner child. Assure your younger self that they did nothing to deserve mistreatment. Remind them of their talents and intrinsic beauty. Also list any hurt feelings or anger in your letter. Also identify any feelings of emotional or physical abandonment issues. Looking back on your childhood and writing about hurtful times is imperative to healing. Getting it all out on paper will serve as a great way to alleviate the fears and anger from the past. It might feel uncomfortable, but that will pass and you will start to feel healed. You can also do daily journaling on past experiences as an inner child. Journaling is a sure way to bring to light inner child wounds and help heal them. Remember, every time you remember an inner child wound, and write it out, you are releasing it to the universe.
Speak encouraging mantras
Combat an inner critic with loving wisdom. Tell yourself often, “I am enough. I matter. I am worthy of love. I am loveable” Create new neural pathways with affirmative language. Using words of affirmation will help you feel more positive and in turn happier. Speak words of affirmations daily to yourself, and do it over and over again until it resonates for you.
Meet unmet needs
Make a list of activities that would comfort your inner child’s fears and longings. Do you like to play music? Create art? Engage with spirituality to really heighten the experience, if you choose to. Enjoying life is part of self-care. Self-care is putting total focus on yourself and doing things that make you happy. As Audre Lorde wrote, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence; it is self-preservation.” Take that vacation you always wanted. Get out a coloring book and be creative. Go to a park and enjoy the swings. Walk barefoot on the beach. Fulfill your own needs by acknowledging them and acting them out.
Cultivate a safe community
Surround yourself with people who champion all parts of you, past and present. Be around people who celebrate you, not tolerate you. Consider joining a support group to share struggles without shame and reduce isolation. 12 step programs are an excellent way towards healing. Seeing childhood wounds in friends allows empathy for what they too endure. Kindness is contagious. Be the person you need for someone else. When we help others, it helps us stay focused on our own healing as well.
In closing, it’s important to implement with patient devotion these methods in order for your inner child to feel seen, safe, and healed. You deserve to be nurtured now and always. It’s so important to recognize your inner child wounds and start the healing process. These 7 steps are a great start to healing the inner child. You want to graduate to this state of being happy, rather than fight invisible emotional wounds from the past for the rest of your life. Remember, the rest of your life starts today. You have the power to change the things you can.
